AZ Museum for Youth

Rhys and I went to the AZ Museum for Youth this morning with Carrie K (along with her two boys, Matthew and Jonathan) and Randi (and her little guy Jonathan). The boys loved it and had a great time. Rhys didn't want to leave.

Civic Si Photoshoot

Scott continues to build up his 14-year old Civic more to his liking. He found some used Civic HX alloy wheels on Craigslist and had Discount Tire swap his tires over. Next he purchased some Tanabe GF210 sport springs and spent the better part of Friday night installing them himself. His new lightweight wheels and lowered stance made a big improvement in the aesthetics and handling of the car. After a quick wash on Sunday, he ran out with Ethan and snapped a few photos at this random location.

Yeah, he did it!

Scott FINALLY got the tranny back on the engine block last night around 8:15p.m. He then worked on finishing up all of last night, this morning and then again this afternoon. Wow, he ended up putting 24 hours of labor into the clutch job. Yikes. But, I am so proud of him that he attempted and successfully completed a job as hard as this. Go, Scott!!

Scott's Car Repair Saga

Scott took the day off yesterday to replace the clutch on his civic (what a fun way to spend a vacation day!) He prepped for 2-3 hours on Wednesday night and then was up at 5:30 Thursday morning to start his project. His dad, Rob was nice enough to come over for most of the day and help too. They got stuck on a certain part of the install and spent 4 hours trying to get the transmission back on the engine with no luck. Finally Scott called it quits around 5 pm and came inside for the day. I sure don't know how he worked outside for 12 hours in the heat, it was like 112 yesterday! Anyway, here's a few pics of Scott after a hard day's work in the garage...

Look how tired (and dirty) he is....

Those are some dirty hands!! And his face, looks like he's a coal miner!

1/3 of the mess in our garage right now...

It's hot....

It has been so hot this week (around 108-112) that the kids at Ethan's school are not allowed to play outside for recess in the afternoon! Almot like the opposite of a snow day :). Today its a little cooler, so hopefully they'll be able to burn some energy off outside after lunch. Poor kiddos!

Ethan's adjustment to Kindergarten...

Well, I am happy to report that Ethan had a great first week at Kindergarten. He is adjusting very well and seems to enjoy himself! I, on the other hand, have been feeling so weird with him gone all day. Kinda like I am lost, a little 'drifter' if you will. This must be a little bit like what the empty nest syndrome feels like! I am sure in another week or two, it'll all be so routine that I won't think twice about it, but in the meantime, I sure do miss our unstructured, lazy days around here :)...

Kindergarten, here we come!

Wow, I can't believe that our precious Ethan started Kindergarten today! Where did the time go?!?! He goes full-day from 8:20am-3pm. He was SOO excited to go this morning (hence the 6 am wake-up time) and was more than happy to pose for a few pics before school started. When I picked him up this afternoon however, he told me that he didn't want to go back. He was upset that all the other kids were bigger than him! He told me that he's just going to stay with me all day :). Anyway, hopefully he'll adjust quickly and soon learn to enjoy his time learning and playing all day.

Ethan and Rhys

This morning when we woke up, Rhys was a little grumpy, so Ethan said, Rhys, come over here and I will read you a book! So, Ethan and Rhys hopped up on the couch and Ethan went through one of Rhys' favorite books with him. How sweet :).

Ethan's Hermit Crab

Well, we are sad to say that Ethan's hermit crab, Zac, died on Monday :(. Ethan was pretty upset!! We did assure him, though, that when we buy our own house someday, that we will get a cat. That seemed to help a little :).
